Soft blue entwined peonies decorate this ceramic gaiwan, giving its vintage-inspired design a delicate and elegant feel. The bluish matte glaze adds a velvety finish that makes the piece pleasant to hold as well as beautiful to look at.
Designed with both comfort and practicality in mind, the gaiwan features a gently flared flower-shaped rim, a tall lid knob, and a raised horse-hoof style foot. The lid is easy to control while pouring, and the elevated base helps the gaiwan sit securely on the table.
Youxia Technique
The peony decoration is applied using the traditional Youxia technique, also known as underglazed decoration. By placing the design beneath the glaze, this method creates a soft, blended appearance and helps preserve the pattern over time. Its graceful form and thoughtful details make this gaiwan suitable for relaxed daily tea sessions, while still feeling special enough for a more carefully arranged tea setting.
