A 100% handmade teapot by certified Yixing artist Hui Fang Shen. The teapot is made in the traditional shape ‘shi piao’ shape characterised by flat lid. The wide opening makes is very practical in use. The teapot body is beautifully hand-carved with a pattern of clouds and dragons.
The material used for this teapot is iron-oxide rich Zhuni clay, which turns dark after oven-firing. The challenge of crafting such teapots lies in its baking process: the temperature needs to be high enough to result in a dark colour, but not too high to avoid too much shrinkage. The latter may result in cracks in the teapot.
The teapot has a traditional 9 hole filter in the spout. It’s fairly small (approximately 12.8x6cm / 180ml), which makes it ideal prepare tea for 1-2 tea drinkers.
The teapot is shipped in a gift box including a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
